Nokia Lumia 830 vs 930 review
Choosing the right phone is never an easy task. Decisions have to be made about the operating systems, size and capabilities of the phone. It has to have the right appearance and it needs to fit the budget of the consumer. A person needs to take the time to look at their options to find the right phone. Even when they decide on a phone manufacture, they may have to choose between different phones that the manufacturer offers. For those that have decided on a Nokia Lumia phone, the decision may come down to the Lumia 830 or the Lumia 930. It is best to compare the similarities and the differences to decide which is best for the individual that is buying a phone.
The physical characteristics
The first thing that people look at with a phone is what it looks like. The 830 and the 930 both have the same size display screen, but they are not exactly the same size. The 830 is lighter than the 930. It is 150 g vs. 167 g for the 930. The 830 is also thinner than the 930. Both rely on a metal frame. They both have a polycarbonate shell. All of this means that the differences in the physical appearance of the phones is minimal as they both have very similar designs.
The Display
If size is the only way to measure display, the phones are identical. They both have 5 inch displays. Where they differ is the picture the display generates. The 930 has a better display picture. It has AMOLED technology compared to the IPS LCD of the 830. It has a resolution of 1080X1920 with 441 pixels per square inch. The 830 has 720X1080 resolution with 294 pixels per square inch. Both phones use ClearBlack technology, but the picture with the 930 is crisper and more vibrant than the picture of the 830.
The Processor
This is another place where the 930 will outperform the 830. With a 2.4 Ghz quad core Snapdragon 800 processor and 2 GB of Ram, the 930 is able to operate faster and is much stronger than the 830. The 830 does have a very capable 1.2 Ghz quad core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1 GB of Ram but that does not match what the 930 has. The result is that both of these phones are fast, but when compared side by side the 930 will be faster.
The Camera
Again the 830 has a very capable camera. It is a 10 megapixel camera and a .9 megapixel front facing camera along with the ability to record video at 30 frames per second. The camera for eh 930 is just a better camera than the 830. It is a 20 megapixel camera with a 1.2 megapixel front facing camera. Both cameras have plenty of great options and settings to use.
Battery life, memory and cost
When it comes to battery life, both the 830 and the 930 are fairly good. The 930 may last a little longer when making calls, but the 830 may be able to use other features of the phone longer than the 930. In general both of the phones have about 15 hours of talk time with their batteries.
The 830 offers 16 GB of internal storage compared to the 32 GB of the 930, but the 830 has a micro SD slot that can expand the memory up to 128 GB.
In general the cost of the 830 is about 25% less than the cost of the 930.
In the end, both the 830 and the 930 are great phones and no one will make a wrong choice with either of them.
